5 Tips to Save Time

Today China and I want to share some tips for saving time during your busy week. We all have very hectic schedules and any time that we can save is a plus. I'm always trying to figure out how to stretch out every single minute because it's hard to find enough of them to fit everything I have to do. My step dads birthday is on February 5th and when we asked him what he wanted he said car mats. What a sad little gift that would be, China and I decided to surprise him by getting his oil change too. But we only had an hour and a half to borrow the car, so we had to do it the smart way. It really is easy to consolidate trips and errands in order to get as much done in a small space of time. Today I'll share how you can run errands, do your shopping and even get your oil change, all in just under an hour.

5 Tips for Saving Time

Make as few trips as possible. Today we need to pay the water bill, buy new mats for the car and get the oil changed. Look over your list and see if there is anything else you can do while in this vicinity so that you can save yourself that following trip later in the week. I remembered that my grandma will need her meds so I add a trip to the drugstore to get those picked up.
Make a list. I am famous for forgetting things from the store, even though that's what I went for. Make a list of everything you need. This will save your from having to make more trips back to the same place and standing in those long lines.
Multitask: Today we are taking advantage of the convenience of Walmart's Auto Care department and getting an oil change while shopping for car mats and a few other items. Did you know Walmart does oil changes? I don't know if all stores do, but we have two Super Walmarts and both have an Auto Center.

For our 2006 Chevy Uplander we got the High Mileage Vehicle oil change with Pennzoil which helps to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines. It's a motor oil that is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles, to help keep the engines running clean and going strong for a long time. Pennzoil is designed for complete protection and will allow you to drive an extra of 550 miles per year vs. a dirty engine. No other motor oil provides better protection from friction.

Focus. This is something I have a very hard time doing, especially in a store. I can promise you that I don't need any Valentine's Day candy, yet I spent about ten minutes perusing the isle and making selections. So don't do as I do and stay focused, that's why your list is important. Stick to the list and you will save time and money.

Delegate. Since China came to Walmart with me, she went ahead and crossed the parking lot for my grandmothers medicine. When you're shopping in a group (of adults) it's easy to split up your list and finish shopping faster.

At the end of the hour we had dropped of the water bill payment on route to the store, grabbed grandmothers medicine, changed the oil on the car and picked out the new mats. We were so quick we had time to stop by for an horchata on the way home. I think we will be getting best daughter awards after delivering my step dad's car back to him not just with the new mats he had been wanting but with the oil change done as well.
