I never thought that I would be a dog and cat lady. Two years ago had you told me that soon my house would be home to a dog, and a handful of cats, I wouldn't have believed you. But it's happened. We now have 4 cats , which is almost same as having 4 toddlers running round, and we still have our one and first pet, Rocky. And while we're pretty happy about having 4 cats under one roof, Rocky still isn't that thrilled. It's like she will look at you with her very sad eyes saying, "I didn't sign up for this." Poor Rocky, she's just not that into the cats. They get to go into the bedrooms where she's not allowed, they get to jump on the furniture, and they even drink her water and sneak into her food bowl.

But she really doesn't have to worry at all, while there is a whole bunch of them, there is only one of her and she is the one that we rescued first. While the cats will get to stay home during the upcoming holidays while we go our for family dinners and events, she will get to go with us. She will get to enjoy Thanksgiving turkey at my sisters house and she will get to go and open presents on Christmas morning too. And while the cats will be home sleeping, she will be opening up and getting to play with her new gifts as well.
Since Rocky spends a lot of time in bed and the winter will soon arrive, I decided to make a Pet Pillow using some warm fleece blankets that I found at the store. We usually buy her a bed every few months and she loves that, I thought this would be a great way to put some more thought into a gift rather than buying it premade. It also ended up costing less than a pre-made bed, and since I used really warm holiday blankets, she will be a lot warmer in the cold months ahead. This pet bed is incredibly easy to make, as you will see below and I think it's such a nice holiday gift for our furry loved ones.

DIY #ToPetsWithLove Pillow
Products needed: Ruler, two fleece blankets, scissors and a pillow

  • Start by lining up both fleece blankets
  • Place pillow on top of blankets. My blankets were squared so I had to cut off about 4" on each side to shape it to the pillow. You want to leave about 7" of material on each side of the pillow
  • Cut a 5" square off from all four side of the blankets
  • For the fringe we will cut 1" wide, 5" long strips all along three sides of the blankets
  • As you go, tie up the strips into a knot so you don't have to come back around a second time
  • Before closing the last side, stuff pillow into the case and finish tying

You're done making a very soft & cozy pet bed for your furry one. This will be a fantastic holiday gift that will get its use and then some. It's also going to be so comfy and soft, I almost want my own.
Other items to put into your pets holiday gift basket:

The one thing that never fails to perk Rocky up is, food. She does love to eat, just like the rest of her family. That's why for her holiday basket we will be sure to pick up a large bag of her favorite food, Purina Beneful Incredibites and some treats. At Ralphs you can find an extensive pet aisle filled with all the treats that are sure to make those little tails wag come Christmas morning. She'll have some Beggin’ Strips which smell like bacon and taste like bacon because they’re made with real bacon. These are her favorite! She will also be getting a few bags of  Busy Dog Treats. These treat your dog with long-lasting chews that'll keep them busy and happy, chewing away while the rest of the family opens up gifts.
Spread holiday love to your furry friends with the help of Purina! Now through the end of November, take advantage of great savings on your favorite Purina pet products available at Kroger with this link, while supplies last.
