They say that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, and it really is. As frantic and crazy as it can get during this month, it still is the best time of the year because it's when we get to spend extra time with the most special people in our lives, family.
This picture was taken last year, my little sister and one of my nephews are not in the shot but the seven of them are the most important people in our lives. I'm very young but once you have kids, the holidays are all about them. It's only been a year since that picture was taken and yet so much has happened in that short time and all of these kids have grown up so much. Life happens in a blink and these kids will be teenagers before we know it, that's why the holiday season is for really taking advantage of the time spent with each of them.
When I think back to being a kid and our family holidays, I remember the trees we had every year, our Hawaiian decorations and how it always "smelled" like Christmas as soon as you opened the door to our house. Those scents of pine, cinnamon and vanilla that made our house feel cozy and welcoming were one of the best parts of getting home. I have really good memories of many holidays past, those are the same kinds of memories that I want to give my son.
To make my home smell the way my mom's home did, I purchased some jar candles, premium room spray and PlugIns® Scented Oil from the Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection at Ralph's. These are the same scents that evoke that same nostalgia and peace of when I was little and waiting for Santa to arrive.
BE AT PEACE™: Balsam Fir & Juniper
SHARE THE SPIRIT™: Pomegranate Sparkler™
CHERISH THE PRESENT™: Apple Cinnamon
Adding these Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection fragrances to different areas of the house, keep it feeling cozy and welcoming.
In a short time we will be sitting around the tree: laughing, drinking hot chocolate and taking turns opening presents. We will all be wearing new pajamas, laughing at China's jokes. There will be a lot of picture taking (by my mom), videos and chats on the phone with those who could not join us. In short, it will be great.
Even though there are going to be many gifts, I guarantee that is not what the kids will remember when they get older. They won't remember the car they got, the tablet that lasted a few months or the doll that cost more than two days pay. When the kids look back on this Christmas they will remember the laughter, the joy that we felt being all together under one roof, and they will remember what Christmas smelled like.
