I'm not a big follower of makeup trends, especially these days where they come and go so quickly. Instead of focusing on what's hot in makeup, I concentrate on my skin. If you've followed my blog for a while then you know that I struggle with acne and have oily and dehydrated skin. Acne has been an issue for me since I was about thirteen years old, that's almost ten years now! That's why skincare has to be my top priority.
One of the most important parts of my skincare is my daily cleansing, which I do morning and night. Today I'm going to share a few of the products that are in my cleansing regimen.
Let me now show you how I use these products each evening before bed. I cleanse every night, but when I am wearing makeup I cleanse even more throughly. Clean pores are so important when you struggle with acne and I never go to bed wearing makeup. I start with Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water which is infused with skin-loving minerals and plant extract, it's specifically developed for dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin. This no-rinse cleanser gently yet effectively cleanses and removes impurities and makeup from your face.
My second cleanse product is the POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser. This cleanser is unlike ordinary cleansers, POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser is actually 50% moisturizer, which again, is so good to dehydrated skin like mine. It deep cleans and removes dirt and makeup, while infusing your skin with vital moisture – all in one easy routine.
You can use POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser as a one step cleaner, but I enjoy using it along with Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water, as part of my double cleanse routine. Double cleansing is the best way to go for a really thorough skin cleansing.
When you're through using these two products together, you skin will feel extremely clean but not dry or itchy. Normally, I would use my serum and moisturizer on top and call it a day, but twice a week I have a third step in my cleansing routine.
The St. Ives brand is one my mom bought my sisters and I as teens, and I still love it. The St. Ives Green Tea Blackhead Clearing Scrub is a great exfoliator that I only use twice a week but that makes such a marked change in my skin texture. It has the most amazing green tea scent and really packs a punch when tackling my blackheads.
St. Ives Green Tea Blackhead Clearing Scrub has antioxidants and it’s moderately exfoliating too, helping to target blackheads, unclog pores and calms redness, for a more even skin tone. With natural ingredients that include green tea and exfoliating mineral, my skin feels so smooth after using it.
I don't recommend using an exfoliating product more than three times a week, but I find it an essential step in any skincare routine. If it's not a step you currently take - I definitely reccomend adding it to your routine. Your skin will feel amazing after!
A product I did not use in today's routine but that I also love for my double cleanse routine is the Noxzema Classic Clean Original Deep Cleansing Cream. This is another og product that my mom remembers from her days in high school. I love how this product smells and always stock up on the big tub, which is super affordable.
Noxzema Classic Clean Original Deep Cleansing Cream reaches deep into pores to remove dirt and oil. Made with eucalyptus and linseed oils, it leaves skin smooth, soft, and moisturized.
Now, with cleansed, moisturized and baby soft skin, I can hit the sheets and know that my skin has been taken care of. I've actually had the flu for over a week now, but my skin hasn't had to pay the price because I am taking good care it, as usual.
