Memorial Day is almost here and as usual my family and I are getting together for our first cookout of what will surely be many more to come. We are already planning our menu for that day and it is going to include many of our favorites: carne asada, corn on the cob, barbecue, and hot dogs and hamburgers for the little ones. Of course we are also going to have some amazing desserts to follow all the delicious food. Anytime we are talking dessert in family, we are talking chocolate, and lots of it. I am already coming up with a few fun, cute and yummy ideas that are sure to please everyone, especially the kids!

For inspiration I went to Walmart over the weekend and they were having a TWIX Bites demo that included samples and coupons!! I love demos and will usually sneak more than a few samples.

TWIX® are of course a favorite of ours and I knew a TWIX Bites mini milkshake would be a great hit so I grabbed a few bags of those as well as vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and fresh fruit. I knew that I wanted to do a memorial day themed dessert so strawberries and blueberries would be perfect.

Today I did a test run of my recipe while the kids are in school and not only was this dessert very easy to make, it is really delicious and so chocolatey. I find that my family enjoys almost anything that includes ice cream, milk and chocolate made in a blender. Who wouldn't?

Here are the ingredients you will need to make Mini TWIX Bites Shakes (makes 5 Mini Milkshakes)
1 1/2 cups of milk
3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup of cut up TWIX Bites

garnish and decorating
whipped cream
blueberries
strawberries

Prep is easy as pie!
Add milk, ice cream and your TWIX Bites (cut up) into blender. Blend for a minute or two until you can tell the candy has broken up as much as possible.

Serve:
Pour into small cups, top with whipped cream, add a big strawberry and a few blueberries. Slice into the side of each strawberry so it will sit nicely on the cup.

Now you have a colorful and delicious treat that all the chocolate lovers will love. They also look really patriotic and perfect for themed parties. Watch out for the melting whipped cream though!

This milkshake is very rich and sweet (cookie, chocolate, caramel and vanilla ice cream!!), that is why the mini portion is better than a larger one.

I can't wait for Memorial Day to arrive and for the little ones to get an eyeful of this little treat I have planned for them. I had two of them today and they are yummy! What is your favorite way to enjoy TWIX® Bites?

TWIX® Bites are a great way to enjoy bite sized pieces of chocolate on their own or in a sweet little recipe like this one. You don't even have to wait for a holiday!
