For my boyfriend and I, Date Night is something of a unicorn. It's something magical and beautiful that you only really hear about, but never get to actually experience. Having a 2 year old child, especially one as needy as mine, doesn't exactly leave much room for romance. Instead we work, go to school and end our day out at the mall finishing our holiday shopping lists. The holidays really make things a lot more hectic than they already are, so by the time we get home all we want to do is relax and take care of the baby. Our evenings consist of a lot of Frozen on the television while eating cereal on the couch. Most days we are lucky to even get to bed at the same time, usually someone has to stay up with the grumpy boy who refuses to go to bed. That's why if a date night happens to magically appear out of nowhere, you can bet your socks that I will be ready even if it means getting ready while on-the-go.
This is how my magical date night happened. I got a call after leaving the house to take Julius to the park. An unexpected schedule change would be freeing up my boyfriend for the evening, would I like to go out? Could I scurry up a babysitter so that we could get a few free hours to ourselves? You bet! But now to get ready while on-the-go with my son. Lucky for me, I am a good multi tasker and while my son enjoyed his trip to the park, I took out my bag and gave myself a little makeover. Starting with a great scent, which is something I always try to do. Guys love it when a girl smells good and I never leave home without a perfume or body spray on me. Now that I have refreshed my scent, I needed to find a reddish lipstick for added drama since I hadn't thought to pack any other makeup.
Red is always my go-to when it comes to a lip color for date night or any special event. During the fall I love to mix it with a more burgundy shade for a very vampy lip.
For my wardrobe change I would be revealing more of my skin, thankfully I also carry a lotion with me at all times. I suffer from very dry skin and like to moisturize throughout the day, especially during the cooler weather. A Thousand Wishes Body Cream is one of my current obsessions and leaves my skin all soft and ready to be shown off.
Now, how bout that babysitter? I've got all my sisters and mom on speed dial, time to see who wants to watch the little man tonight. Of course Jackie steps up to the plate and Julius loves getting to go play with the kids, I am all set to go. With some powder, lipstick, lotion and a red lip, I was transformed from little miss frumpy into someone now ready to go out for date night. It didn't end up taking a lot for me to change up my look, and all with things I happened to have in my bag. I know that when life is busy and with the holiday season here, it's not always easy to look your best, but our guys deserve it. After seeing me with a naked face and bun all last week, I owed it to mine to make myself up a bit, at least for a few hours.
